National Youth Dance Company

From 1989 to 2002 I had the extraordinary role of designing and producing the costumes for the UK’s first National Youth Dance Company, established and run by the wonderful John Chesworth, former Artistic Director of Ballet Rambert 1974-1980

Young dancers were auditioned from all over the country at Easter followed by a months residency during the summer holidays. During those four weeks up to six new works would be created by some of the brightest up and coming young choreographers and also members of the company. At the end we would have a fully costumed show, premiered and ready to tour!

Choreographers included:

Richard Alston, Lea Anderson, Mark Baldwin, Matthew Bourne, Aletta Collins, Javier de Frutos, Shobana Jeyasingh, Mavin Khoo, Cathy Marston, Wayne McGregor, Henri Oguike, Ashley Page, Janet Smith, Sheron Wray, Kenneth Tharp, Anthony Van Laast
